Sarah & Erik // Lakeside Switzerland Wedding
I remember when I got the inquiry for this wedding.. I was in Paris, traveling alone, I had a migraine that had been there for days, and to be honest I was feeling a bit defeated. Sarah had emailed me to say that we had worked together before (she was a wedding coordinator in Portland) and that she and Erik wanted me to shoot their wedding in Switzerland. Umm what!? To say it put some pep in my step is an understatement, and I was suddenly rejuvenated from what seemed like less than ideal circumstances overseas.
When I got home it was wonderful to catch up with Sarah, meet Erik, and start getting the details in place. It didn't even feel like a real wedding I was going to shoot until they sent me my plane ticket, and then it all kinda hit me. I'm going to Switzerland!! Goodness. It's always been on my "list of places," though not necessarily at the top, but it turned out to be one of my absolute favorite countries in the world.
I spent a week with their closest friends in family, and it was one of the most incredible experiences thus far in photography. They welcomed me with open arms, let me attend all of their preplanned events (the bachelorette party was probably the wildest one I've ever attended), and just made being there an absolute joy. You never really know how an entire week with strangers will unfold, but this one was good. Real good.
I think the photos from the wedding day mostly speak for themselves. The got married at a castle(!!) on a turquoise colored lake. So basically one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. There was so much happiness throughout the day, and then one helluva sweaty dance party after dark. Enjoy!
